Hierarchia (from Greek ἱερός, hieros, ‘sacred, divine,’ and ἀρχή, archē, ‘origin, source, rule, order’) — literally ‘sacred origin’ or ‘holy order.’ In the context of the sophia perennis, it refers to the vertical, ontological ordering of reality from the lowest, densest level of manifestation to the highest, most subtle, and ultimately to the unmanifested, divine Principle itself. >>
The objective here is to make the works of the principal perennialist thinkers accessible to a broader, non-specialist audience. I believe, as they did, that the collapse we witness in modern society is inevitable and stems from cutting man off from transcendence and locking him into the horizontal plane—a condition which is a function of the Enlightenment and much that preceded it, and almost everything that has come since. >>
Project status
This project is very new (launched mid-May, 2026). I have built the structure for the site and its preliminary logic (for three languages: English, French, Russian). I am beginning with René Guénon, and specifically with his The Crisis of the Modern World. The glossaries will fill up as work progresses. Since, where possible, it is a clear advantage to have access to a writer in his mother tongue, the French version of this part of this project contains full vocabularies and grammar notes to Guénon’s writing to assist the learner with access to English to read him in the original.
I have made the project ‘open’ to view in its entirety, and access is free. If you think this has merit and wish to support me, you can do that here.
